Through March of 2025, Rick was the Vice President of Development at The Brandr Group (TBG), a company focused on NIL group licensing opportunities for student athletes in Division 1 college athletics programs. TBG worked with 100 Division 1 programs and over 20,000 student athletes to secure rights and deliver licensing and sponsorship programs.
During the three+ years he has spent at TBG, Rick served on the senior management team, successfully negotiated dozens of school agreements, managed the firm’s relationship with the NCAA and its policies, delivered numerous sponsorship opportunities to student athletes based on fair market value and implemented multiple licensing programs at dozens of schools.
Formerly, he was the president and CEO of ScoreShots, a social media creation product, that empowered high school, college and professional teams to create and post high-quality image and video content in just minutes. As CEO, Rick hired and led high-quality technology and product development teams and built a product-development management tool from scratch. Launched in 2016, ScoreShots grew to more than 500 partners in the United States and Canada. He sold that company to a private-equity firm in 2020.
Before ScoreShots, Rick was the CEO of Immersion Media, a company devoted to interactive storytelling using 3D animation, HD video and an assortment of complementary technologies. Among its clients were The First Tee, the NBA, the NFL, the NCAA, NASCAR, IndyCar, the National Federation of State High School Associations, the USGA and many others.
Rick began his career at the NCAA, where he served in the Academic and Membership Affairs group. Among his responsibilities over time were managing the NCAA’s relationship with all of the professional sports leagues and the related player unions, running the NCAA’s summer baseball league program, which was funded by Major League Baseball, staffing committees, drafting legislation and responding to rules inquiries from the NCAA membership and the general public.
He has served in various senior-level capacities with sports technology companies, first with Coach’s Edge and then with Sportvision, the pioneer of the 1st and Ten line.
Rick received his BA from Carroll College (MT), where he was a member of the varsity basketball team, and his MA from the University of Connecticut.
