JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is accepting applications for the full-time position of Director of Cross Country & Track and Field. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of a Division I Women’s Cross Country and Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Programs, including coordination of recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes; overall development of the student-athletes; practice and meet preparation; oversight responsibility of assistant coaches; support of the academic staff to ensure academic success of team members; support of the Division’s efforts to promote the cross country/track and field program through marketing and community involvement initiatives; budget management; and other administrative duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree; five years of collegiate cross country/track and field coaching experience in a full-time position; demonstrated ability to operate a successful program within NCAA and conference regulations; commitment to the academic success of student-athletes; demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations; ability to teach/communicate effectively; demonstrated experience in the recruiting process of qualified student-athletes; strong commitment to the academic goals of the University; and outstanding organizational, communication, and public relations skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Six or more years of experience as a Division I Cross Country and/or Track and Field Director/Head Coach; experience leading a team to a conference championship; top 25 team finish in the NCAA indoor/outdoor track & field championship; collegiate and/or professional experience as a cross country/track & field athlete; program operations experience that includes scheduling, budget management, and travel planning.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
